My husband and I have lived in Indiana for the last three and a half years. Prior to moving here, we lived in Asheville, North Carolina for eight years. We have four beautiful daughters Kate-Austen (10), Emerson (7), Hadley (4), and Scarlett (1) who keep us very busy. When we’re not working or at school, our family loves to go on bike rides and hikes, visit with family and friends, and hang out in our wonderful neighborhood- Irvington.

Prior to working with Inspire, I worked in advocacy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and, while I loved working on the macro level, I missed out on the relationship-building and individual rapport-building that case management allows. Working in advocacy allowed me to see the big picture; we worked on projects to help move individuals from institutional settings to community settings and helped train individuals working in sheltered workshops so they felt prepared to work in integrated employment settings. Many of these projects had huge impacts throughout the state and the country, but I didn’t get to see or feel how these projects actually impacted individuals and families. Working as a case manager, I get to go into homes and meet people where they are. I get to share in the trials and tribulations of people’s lives and I get to see, on the individual level, just how policies, legislation, and projects impact individuals and families.
